Wemimo, the artist

Wemimo, a Viennese singer-songwriter of Yoruba heritage, deftly intertwines various art forms as a versatile artist: singer, musician, and painter. Serving as the lead vocalist and rapper of "Almost Famous," she seamlessly blends her talents. For Wemimo, art is not just a medium but a lifeline, reflecting pre-colonial beauty standards, her journey of self-discovery, and the identity crisis she faced in her formative years. Through her work, she embarks on both collective and individual quests to heal generational trauma, transforming pain into profound reflections and discovering joy amidst adversity.

Her artistic journey is marked by versatility and innovation, from her beginnings with the band Almost Famous, where she showcased her lyrical and vocal prowess with tracks like "Purple Soul" (2021) and "Focus" (2021), to her recent collaboration on the soundtrack for the film "Breaking The Ice" (2022). In January 2023, she released "Equilibrium," featuring Quantumn Haze, captivating audiences with its blend of music, rhythm, poetry, and visual storytelling.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Wemimo engages in diverse projects, performing as a solo act with guitar and vocals, collaborating with the soul funk band Libertunes, and contributing to rap projects. Beyond music, she also paints commissioned pieces, with a focus on portraits.
